Libya: Why the oil market is nervous
Man this new unrest in Lybia will propel the oil prices around the world to the new high. Expect gas prices to rise in the near future in all the markets. Good thing that I bought some solar stocks in the retirement account. Hopefully the investment and trading account can balance from there.
I am still losing with my KB homes stock holding. So we will have to see.

Nasdaq nears 10-year high; should you be nervous?
I think yes we should be alarmed about the stock market, however I think there is still plenty of room for stock to grow. It will be another 2~3 years of long bull stock market before the world wide stock panic happens. People who got in stock last year has made alot of money. People who get in stocks now will still make some money.
People who get into stocks at the end will be left holding the bag losing alot of money. It is good when people are doubting about investing. You should only be really worried when everyone is tauting that stock market can make everyone rich and lots of money.
I am staying another week in Taiwan, so I probably will not do any trade during these times. My grandma passed away last Friday. Funeral will be in another week. The ceremony will be buddhist type. So lots of praying and standing~ So sad about my grandma. Maybe I should have visited after I became American citizen...I have not been to the US for the past 12 years until now ><

Nvidia Rises After Sales Forecast Exceeds Predictions
Nvidia released spectacular company financial earning today which caused overall technology to advance further. Although Nvidia got a nice 9% stock increase. My little AMD stock got another 5% boost. I think technology sector in the stock market will be in favor during the next couple of days. That is when I will sell my stock holdings to buy into another.
I think I will use that funding to pull back to financial stock market sector. I like Citi quite nicely. I think that there has not been a clear direction of Citi's share price in the past couple of months. But that will change soon. Something will trigger another price movement, if there is a sharp price down pull, I will buy into that. If there's gradual increase to the $5.00 dollar stock level, I will buy ino the stock.
However, if it shows signs of stock price weakness and decline, I will stay away from it. That will be my next strategy, to pull my funds into financial sector again.

Nice AMD Advance today
Alright, my AMD stock holdings advanced a nice 4.5% in the stock market today. However, I am unable to log in my stock trading account because of some restriction. Yet, I think with this increase my stock investment account now stands at about $11,500! Because of my time restraint, I do not think I will be able to trade in and out of any stock positions during the next couple of days. So I may ask my girlfriend to buy or sell stocks for me.
I did see my grandma in the hospital today in Taiwan. She is in pretty bad shape half awake and half asleep all the time. She cannot carry out any conversation rather than say yes or no. Although she does still remember me which I am quite happy.
The plane ride was quite long. 15 hour of flight! I did not sleep much on the plane and I think I am dying right now at 2:00 p.m. Taiwan time.

Personal Business - Grandma Dying in Taiwan
There will most likely be no new posts about the stock market for the next couple of days...my Grandma is on her deathbed in Taiwan. I am flying there from the US either tonight or tomorrow afternoon. I may still follow my own stock investment holdings and update if I get to have decent internet access in Taiwan.
So sad about her..she was very nice to me when I was little until my family immigrated to the US.

Despite all the pessimistic view that housing prices have not hit the bottom yet, somehow I think it has. It has dropped below a point where it is attractive for the foreign investors, especially chinese investors who are trying to laundering the dirty money out of China.
What makes a better investment than buying or investing in real estate in the US? I believe that the overall housing prices will gradually rise from then on...The worst is over when the government cannot persuade more house buyers with lots of money incentives on top of the historically low rate.
Yet I think it will still take years for the prices to rebound back...I currently own a house too and I am underwater for about $30k...Yet I will be patient and just let this investment ride. I am living in it too so it does not hurt that much.
Hopefully this kind of new money and investment from foreigner can boost the stock market across the board. Then again I can only hope. KBH is down quite a bit at the time of writing, my account is back down to $10,900.

Although some of these financial experts say that oil and gas will not hit all time high price, for some reason I do not believe it. I think 50% of the oil and gas prices are higher because of demand, and another 50% is caused by manipulation.
I think the oil companies has already gotten their nice stock price appreciation over the past couple months. Now is the time for them to boost the gas prices too to boost their company's earning even more.
I guess one of the best investment right now is to buy some oil barrels and plant them in your backyard..lol..although that is not legal ;p.
Will we see another all time high for gas prices? I hope not...if it is, then all of our hard earned dollars become another record earning figure of those oil companies...

This is one news that most people could care a little less because it is harder for people to relate. However, mortgage insurers are companies pretty much insure other banks when their mortgages go bad. During the financial and real estate boom, these companies pretty much were printing out money.
However, during these years when tons of real estate business gone bad and losing money. All these mortgage insurance company had to pay up. I am interested in this sector because I was had really negative investment outlook on these so I shorted it. However it had a surge runup when either manipulation or what...so I did lose quite a bit of money last year.
Today the whole sector is running up for like 10%+, whoever bought the stock earlier must've made some nice money...I would stay away from the sector though, you will never know when you will lose money if you do buy into it.
I think it is another stock manipulation. Be careful if you like big ups and downs when you like trading...trading is not a fast ticket to getting rich.

This news story is posted together with the news to work with Microsoft against Google's Android and Apple Iphone. I ask...Why? The android platform is free. Why does Nokia have to do this and layoff a ton of its work force? Nokia's stock price is down a whopping 14% and I think they deserve it.
This I believe is a strategic suicide. Why does this company want to jump into a competitive atmosphere without good prospect of profit? In a couple years they will post billions of lost because of this strategic blunder then cancels the project. Nokia bye bye...I will stay away from this stock at all cost.
I think the financial competition among the phone and wireless industry is becoming to have some clear winners and losers. My fellow readers, if you plan to buy into stocks, stay away from the losers. It will save you lots of money.

Fools is pumping KB homes compared to all of its stock peers in the same industry. I did not read too much into its argument but I guess it is good to have some other people on my side haha. KB home has been having 1% down days with 4% stock up days. I think that is quite good. Although I do own some KB homes in my stock trading accounts right now...I entered a bit early and they are currently at a loss ><
I bought the stock at 15.07...I think it will be another 2 weeks before I can sell the stock at a nice profit...we will have to see!
My account value stands at around $10,900 right now. I think I have pretty safely locked my profits...I hope for another good stock advance day so I can break $11,500! For those of you who are new to my blog, I started trading stocks with this account at the beginning of the year with $10,000

lol ouch...I guess that everyone who has already bought Iphone already did...Verizon is late in the game so that they will not get much financial advantage out of it. It could make matter worse if they paid alot of money and commission to be able to carry iphone.
I think next quarter's stock earning will be hurt because of this flop...then the company's management can blame their lack of performance and earning blah blah because lack of interest for the iphone. So maybe I will stay away from buy verizon stock for now. You do not know whether or not it will bite your ass later.

Ouch food is going to become more and more expensive. Food making companies are not going to let price increases hurt their bottom line. The consumer will end up picking up the tab. I guess this may be bad news for the stock market. Because more people will have to put their money into food instead of investing in the stock market...

Lol I totally agree with the guy in Google. Come on Facebook worth 10 billion in stock market valuation? All these people are stupid enough to buy into the stock while the owners are quietly selling their own stock shares. For granted Facebook is quite popular with lots of outreach and potential. Although I think that will change soon as privacy issues arise and more software giants jump into the market.
I believe that the stock price for Facebook will indeed skyrocket once Facebook become IPOed. Then it will become a slow death as it actually releases the amount of money that it actually earns, how much money and profit is it making actually? It all comes down to that in terms of all investments. Stock market will burn alot of people who simply base their high financial hopes on no investment grounds.
The new bubble hot in stocks will be cloud computing and social networking. Jump in while early, just remember to cash in before the crash. There will be lots of losers with only a couple winners left to see the end of the stock market day.

Iconic 'Guitar Hero' video game gets the ax
Ouch.. Blizzard takes a hit today in the aftermarket after earning release with the stock price. The company still makes a ton of money because of its online business. The stock price of Blizzard is down almost down 10% because of the financial earning news.
I think that once the stock is down 10%, by looking at yearly stock chart, it is at the level which makes it a buy. I am going to put some money in the ATVI with my retirement account which is not a part of this trading blog.
Anyways, the point of this post is to say OMG they are cutting loose the guitar hero. We all know that it was coming, you can only make so much money with the music genre. I mean look back at the old DDR series and DJ games, all the music games eventually get AXed from the parent company because they are simply not money makers aside from the one hit wonder.
I actually think that Blizzard is better off by axing the guitar hero unit. They should concentrate more of their investment with online games. Because I believe that is where the future money will be in.

I am quite happy today that my home building stock KB homes stock price went up considerably today after a couple days of stock losses. This financial article is quite bright with many positive outlooks. It may seem that the worst of economical crisis has passed.
Companies are making money once again after all the trimming down. Stocks will be strong again in the near term I think...I think stock market will hit a brand new high 1 year away from now. This is a great time to invest and put money to work.
My stock investing and trading account now stands at $11,000! 10% increase for 1 month.

The mortgage rate appears to be rising again. I think it will help the stock market positively as it will bring more bystanders into buying into housing. Although I think alot of the stock or real estate buying comes from over sea money...cough cough China. We will have to see the intermediate term effect of this kind of buying.

Damn. I think I sold FFIV stock too fast ;p. Although I did get $100 out of trading FFIV. If I had hold on to this stock instead of switching to KBH. I would have made more money during this trade. Factory activity grows at fastest pace in 7 years
Factory activity grows at fastest pace in 7 years
The stock market was doing really good today. Maybe it has somethings to do with the factory data. That investors are thinking that consumers are buying more, therefore factories are making more. I think in general it is a good thing.
I just hope that this short rally will not be short lived. I am keeping my holdings for a couple more days to see how they go. I might jump out at my stocks at any time when another buying opportunity presents itself.
Although I am quite up, if I sell anything right now. I would still be selling them at a loss instead of at breaking point. So...because I think this week will be kindly for stocks, I will keep them.

It is quite funny how on financial analyst's BS at different investment banks can propell or make stock prices go to hell. I am happy that this time a Citi analyst is pumping my AMD holding ;p. Although I bought it at a bit high price of $8.4...this pump brought the stock back to $7.9. Today's closing will be pretty good! Money is good.
This article also mentions Yum brand which controls KFC and Pizza hut. They are gonna lower the stake which I think is good. For some reason, I just dont think KFC is as tasty as before. For those of you who don't know. Yum is a company that owns controlling stake in restaurants such as Taco bell, KFC, Pizza hut, and Green tacos (I think).
I think overall the stock market will be up today, recovering from the financial shock that send everyone panicking on Friday.

This was a good post on an financial analysis of the fundamentals for the solar companies. It included the financial analysis of following companies: CSIQ / ENER / FSLR / JASO / LDK / PWER / SOL / SOLF / SPWRA / STP /.
Although the author of this article is really pro FSLR based on market fundamentals. We can kind of see that the stock market does not really react well when overall solar industry was out of investors favor in the past 2 years or so. I believe that although the rate of financial return on investment is important in terms of investing fundamentals, yet solar industry should not really focus on fundamentals...a huge part of industry should be tied in on how they could share their visions and executions to investors.
During this year I will be buying and selling solar stocks in the stock market. I think overall the solar industry will be experiencing a uptrend some experiencing some pretty wild ups and downs. So hopefully this will mean good monetary gains if I execute my trades right.

Why do you want to sue a bankrupted company? How much money can you actually get back from this litigation activity. This is probably a nonevent for the market. I just find it sad for the sueing company...It may look good on the paper seeing that they can get some money back, if they win the lawsuit.
Most likely the amount they can get back will not even cover the cost of lawyer. So why do they bother? Overall the banking industry in the stock market is up a little. But not as much as the technology sector. Good thing that I bought technology stocks. I think in a week or so, I will buy into banking stock shares again.

Good Stock Day for AMD and FFIV
I am quite pleased when I woke up to see my stocks today. Both stocks that I bought went up a healthy 1~2%. Very nice indeed.
I think QUALCOM's earning does boost the stock price all across different sectors in the stock market. Although the AMD and FFIV (F5 Network)'s earning are not at my stock selling point yet, I need to continue to monitor when is the best time to exit my stock market positions.

I think this is really a non event for the stock market. We all kinda know about the raising debts. Although it does not really affect things much. Afterall, the world economy is still mostly tied to the dollar. Government can just "create" money out of thin air and screw all its creditors down the line. I wonder why people even worry about national debts...much ;p

The housing sector for the stock market did prove pretty well today. So I sold it at some gain. I then used that money to buy into FFIV. It recently had a bad earning time and the investors punished it. I think I may get into the same financial situation as I did w/ AMD but uh. I already executed the stock buying order ><
I think my price entry point into FF5 Network is a bit high at 109.37. But we will see how it goes~
As for AMD, I will continue holding the security until it is at a higher level. I do not want to sell it at a huge discount, yet. If the stock market proves me wrong bout it within 3 months or so, I will consider liquidating my position.
At the time of writing my stock account stands at 10,540. So not too bad.

NVDA - Nvidia's stock price is rising quite a bit today. At my time of writing it's now a 8.41% gain. Man. I want to stop myself from chasing. I think this sudden increase in interest of buying NVDA stock is dangerous for the short term.
I wonder if I will miss the train by not chasing after the stock. The stock price sure is hot right now.

I disagree with this guy. I think more incentives will come as energy prices go up. Silicon solar will continue dropping in the future. Although that will cut into their profit margin. Yet overall I do believe Solar will be a growing industry in the future.
I will still be putting money into solar industry stock market throughout this year. It is still quite risky investment nevertheles for the short term.

Intel Settlement Is Model to Fight Unfair Competition, FTC Chairman Says
I really don't think that the government can do much to stop the unfair practices. Big companies still have the pricing ability over smaller competitors. Isn't that a part of business?
Although it is necessary to avoid Monopoly. I doubt that there's much the FTC can do.
But as a stock trader, Monopoly businesses are almost always good for stock returns. Especially to invest in a starting industry.

Jan. 13: Intel Corp. says net income jumped 48 percent, because of the strong demand on higher profit server chips. I think this is a one time event that will not last long. There will be a time when companies decide that they want to keep their existing hardware instead of dishing more money for that 10% more performance.
Jan. 18: Apple Inc.'s earning jumps too. I also think that it might not last. As more people have Ipods with more fierce competition, I think that their profit will decrease 3~4 year out with more innovative products. I think the current growth is overvalue which assume that apple can grow nonstop...
Jan. 19: EBay Inc. says fourth-quarter revenue rose 5 percent, as the healthy holiday shopping season bolstered growth in its online marketplace and PayPal online payments business.
Jan. 20: Google Inc. earned $2.5 billion during the final three months of 2010, a 29 percent increase from the prior year. Revenue climbed 26 percent to $8.44 billion. Man how much can google make...Is there a cap? I know that google has been pushing very hard for people to use their coupons. I wonder if this improves their buttom line.

I am holding AMD right now so i might be biased..

I like how they are investing at this financial turmoil time. I think their investment will turn out great. I am currently holding KBH still. Last week was a bit bad for KB homes or the entire housing sector.
However, for the next half of year, I will put my money in the housing segment of the market to see how things will turn out. I think that if any good news come up, people will become more optimistic about the sector which means better prices and profits that come from higher stock prices.

So wrong About AMD
Haha I was so wrong about my AMD holding. The market is reacting quite negatively to the AMD earning release. I guess I would have to hold on to AMD for a while for any meaning full rebound.

Man...this may be the financial news that I am hoping for. Hopefully this good news will tag along the tech rally that is happening in Asia now. However, I do feel a little ...with the timing of CEO leaving and this news release. Yet, we just have to wait and see.
If there is a boost to AMD price above my price target, I may consider selling the stock. It really depends on how the overall market is doing. I am looking forward to tomorrow's stock trading day.

01/18 Bought KBH and Sold PHM - SkyBlueTrading
AMD's stock price is continuously dropping. I am a little sad about that, however I do think that the price will come back at a later time. So I will keep it for trading out of its position later.
I woke up to housing and banking sector pretty much lowering across the board. However, my PHM was holding up quite nicely at the beginning while KBG was down quite at almost negative 3%. I made a quick decision about buying KBH by using the fund from selling PHM. Below is a screen shot of my stock trade:

I said that I do not want to keep two stocks in the same industry. Therefore I decided to sell LEN today. However, I have been following AMD for quite some time. It had a surprise drop about 8% because of the current CEO outage.
I thought that the market overreacted. So I jumped in and grabbed myself some shares. It should be noted that I got a nice little $300 gain from the trading of LEN.
Below is a screen shot.

The past couple of days had been good for the solar industry. With LDK going up for 10%+, LDK's news propelled all the other solar stocks to do well as well. This is when I decided to pull out of the stock. So I sold CSIQ for neary $400 worth of gain.
I then used the proceeds to buy PHM. I now have two stocks in housing industry. So I may decide to sell one of my housing stocks at a later time.

SkyBlueTrading Prologue
SkyBlue Trading Log – Prologue 1/1/2011
This blog series will be my own personal quest to make money through simple stock trading. During the past year, I logged about $4,000 gain in my girlfriend’s retirement account. Which I think is decent considering that my girlfriend and I are only both in our mid twenties.
This year, she and I have put in some money in a mutual account where it will be managed by me. We are going to use these funds for our future purchases such as wedding, house, and etc. My goal is to make money without losing it through this quest.
I start with a balance of $10,000 in trading fund. I may gradually deposit some more in the account if I have more spare money. Among my mortgage and car payments, I really do not have that spare change to do so neither..
The broker that I use is Merill Edge.
